The Academy
Academy owners Karen and Julia Emmond are dedicated, experienced musicians offering personalized quality-driven instruction in piano, violin, guitar, ukulele, clarinet, and music theory. Both are Royal Conservatory of Music certified teachers who also provide for their students the added benefits of the Canadian National Conservatory of Music’s 'whole musician' curriculum.
Piano lessons are conducted on professional Yamaha pianos and the Academy has an extensive music library. Students and families enjoy the spacious, well appointed studios with large windows that allow for fresh air.
The comfortable, inviting waiting area is equipped with fibreoptic Wi-Fi, practice pianos, books and reading material for all ages, and quiet ‘busy’ activities for children.
West Kelowna Academy of Music is in a convenient downtown Westbank location, minutes from several large chain stores and malls. With the West Kelowna Museum, the Greater Westside Board of Trade, and the RCMP detachment as neighbours, the Academy is ideally situated with free parking and secure access.

Julia has filled in to coach me from time to time and I have known her for years. She is such a talented musician and has a true passion for all kinds of music. In 2017, I took my Grade 1 exam from the Royal Conservatory and got First Class Honours with Distinction! Julia was my teacher for many sessions before my exam and even played piano duets with me at our church to help me get ready and feel more prepared.
